I WILL have a bikini body or so help me…

Howdy ho! It’s been an interesting couple of weeks, but I am ready to crack on. I have a million Jillian Michaels DVDs ready to kick my butt (I’ve already started on Ripped in 30 – whooo wee!), 9lbs to lose and a tight body to gain. I’m off on holiday in July with my Mum and the children, and I am determined to wear a bikini (unless it rains all week…)!

I dermarolled again, as I purchased some anaesthetising cream. Weirdest sensation EVER. I felt fairly queasy, rolling myself as hard as I could, knowing that it should hurt, but it wasn’t hurting. Really quite grim actually. And as soon as it started wearing off it hurt like hell! But I did manage to draw blood, so that’s good, bizarrely.


Nice and red! I did that about 4 days ago and it’s only just starting to not hurt, but it itches like hell. I hope it works! El husbando thinks I’m totally mental and can’t bear that I’m hurting myself. No pain, no gain.

I’ve found a brilliant workout plan that cycles all 3 Jillian Michaels DVDs on a 9 week rota. And here it is (shamelessly ripped from another corner of the Internet…)

I think it will be pretty good but very hard work. So here’s hoping I can stick at it!


Oh boy…

My splint has arrived at long last! And I really wish it had been hand delivered by Julie Tupler so she could show me how to put the damned thing on. I think I’m doing it correctly; I’ve stood in from of a mirror and put it on whilst watching the video in which Julie Tupler herself puts one on. And yet, it somehow doesn’t feel quite right… If I relax my abdominal muscles for one second, this is what happens… 



Harrrrumph. Really not keen on my internal organs bunching up and popping out underneath the splint. So I guess the point is that to avoid that happening I need to keep my core tight, my tummy button drawn in, and step up the Tupler exercises. When I keep everything engaged, it looks like this:



So that’s me for now. I’ve been a bit sporadic with the Shred this week because I wanted to wait until I could splint the muscles, just in case I was hindering them with some of the moves (crunches etc.). But now I’ll be back onto my daily routine again. I’ve also added cycling (to our local swimming pool once a week) to my keep fit regime, so along with having a good half hour swim, I’m starting to feel like a proper little gym bunny. Even though I don’t go anywhere near the gym.

Hopefully, sometime soon, when I’m lying down and I lift my head, I won’t be able to hide Skittles in this…


Otherwise all of this will have been in vain and I’ll be SO MAD.

30 day Shred – level 3

Well, I am on to level 3 and… it’s so much easier than I thought it would be! What a relief! The change from level 1 to 2 was quite a shock, and I dreaded changing up to level 3 thinking it would be that much harder. But it wasn’t at all, I think level 2 has made me that much stronger that I can cope with it. It’s making me feel amazing, not just physically but mentally too. What a difference a bit of jumping around can make!

My tummy muscles are now only a finger width apart and all of my back problems have vanished. I can’t believe how relatively easy it’s been and I am so glad I’ve finally found the motivation to do some exercise. I’m not convinced that my muscles are going to come back together any more without the use of a splint, so I have ordered one and we will see. Julie Tupler, the woman who developed the ‘Tupler Technique’ that I have mentioned before here, recommends that you wear one all day every day (not in the bath…) until the muscles have sewn themselves back together. So that’s what I’m doing. I hate having anything tight on my stomach, but I’ll just have to get used to it.

I had my final physio appointment this week for my back problems and I’ve been “signed off” with an open appointment available in the next few months just in case anything crops up. Fingers crossed it will all remain strong and pain free. I’ve got a couple of back-strengthening exercises that I can be doing as well as my Shred, and I’ve started going swimming on my own in an evening once a week, which will also help to strengthen my back and tone my muscles.

Not a massive change between the two, but certainly getting more toned, and I’m not actually at the end of the 30 days yet. Still got a way to go yet, but I’m feeling so positive about it! Hooray!

30 Day Shred

Well, it’s nearly been 16 months since Ellie was born and I’ve finally found the motivation to do a workout and stick to it. I started Jillian Michaels’ “30-day Shred” DVD back in February but I quickly gave up after I allowed myself to have a day off. It was then so much easier to say to myself “Oh not tonight, I’m a bit tired” etc. until I just completely stopped. This time, however, I’m determined. I am sick of looking at my body and being surprised to see something I don’t recognise. I need to get back to something resembling myself, and I will only do it with hard work.

The 30-day Shred workout is split into 3 levels, and you do each one for 10 days. I am now on day 12, so I’ve completed level 1 and am on to level 2. Boy did I get a shock when I went up a level. It is an intense 20 minute workout that leaves you sweating, panting and feeling like you’re about to keel over and die. But the wonderful thing is that you don’t quite pass out. You stick with it and I am amazed at the changes in my body in such a small amount of time. I am having to be careful when doing the abs exercises, due to my still separated tummy muscles, but as long as my core is engaged, my tummy button sucked back to my spine, it’ll be fine.

I already feel so much better. I feel fitter, healthier, and my stomach is flatter already. I haven’t missed a day – even when I went to stay with my Mum this weekend, I took 20 minutes out each day to leap around like a loon because I am not going to give up. And without further ado, here are the results so far…

I’m pretty happy with that! No that’s a lie. I am OVER THE MOON with those results right there. I feel incredible. I feel physically better than I have in a long, long time. I am going to keep this up until I look like the me that I remember, because she’s hiding in there somewhere. And when I get there, I’m buying a bikini. Yes, I live in Scotland. Yes, it’s very chilly and wet here. But, you know, screw it. I’m not working this hard to not show it off.
